To Grow Food, To Grow Minds, To Grow Community
NB Community Harvest Gardens (NBCHG) is a community-led, not-for-profit organization that was established in 2010. Our mission is to provide inclusive spaces to allow everyone in our community to garden together within the City of Fredericton. We currently steward the St. Mary’s Community Garden, Marysville Community Garden and Hayes Farm.

Our priority is to work with community partners to support under-served and underrepresented populations within our community. We offer a variety of food literacy and hands-on learning programs to meet the needs of diverse participants at different skill levels. All of our programming is offered on a pay-what-you-can basis to ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate in our local food culture.
NBCHG accomplishes our mission by integrating Wabanaki cultural wisdom and foodways into our programs, learning from the land, and taking personal and collective responsibility for the care of our Mother Earth.
Food Sovereignty is the concern of not only access to food , but access to healthy food that is produced locally, offering nutrition and sustenance. This food is free of harmful chemicals, grown by people who are treated well and compensated fairly for their work, and grown with environmentally regenerative methods. Food sovereignty honours the right for people to access culturally-appropriate foods and for the democratization of our food system. NBCHG holds these values high in all of our work.

NBCHG does our work on the unsurrendered, traditional, Wolastoqey homeland. Our sites are located very near to Sitansisk Wolastoqey (St. Mary’s First Nation). We do our best as Treaty People to care for this land and to honour the cultures of all indigenous peoples both in our wider community, Turtle Island and around the world. We work in the spirit of friendship and reconciliation.
